Macao Marathon – 04 December 2016

The Macao Marathon sees runners from around the world demonstrating their sporting prowess. With a mini-marathon, half marathon and full 26-mile marathon to watch, visitors to Macao can cheer from the side-lines for runners competing in this impressive annual event!

Macao Set for Grand Prix

Macao is gearing up to host the 63rd edition of the Macau Grand Prix – one of its most anticipated events which takes place from the 17th – 20th November 2016. During the four days of the Grand Prix, the best motorcycle, WTCC and Formula 3 racers in the world compete on the twisting Guia Circuit, one of the most challenging street circuits in the world. The final day represents the climax of the Formula 3 calendar and, last year, British drivers Alexander Sims and Sam McLeod claimed the third and fourth positions. First Ever International Film Festival & Awards Macao

Macao is getting ready to host the first ever International Film Festival & Awards Macao (IFFAM). Taking place from 8th to 13th December 2016, the Festival aims to raise awareness and promote various aspects of Chinese-language, East Asian and International cinema. Acclaimed director Shekhar Kapur – who has previously served on the jury at the Cannes, London and Tokyo film festivals - will serve as Jury President. The organisers have invited renowned figures from the international film industry to participate in IFFAM, which is expected to become one of the major international events in the Asian film industry and a real highlight of the Macao cultural calendar. Travel to Macao Now Easier Than Ever

Travel to Macao is now even easier for UK visitors, with the launch of four new weekly flights between London Gatwick and Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific. The new four times per week service from Gatwick’s South Terminal, offers travellers to Macao even more choice when booking flights, complementing the airline’s existing five-times daily service from London Heathrow and four-times weekly service from Manchester Airport. Food is at the centre of things in Macao, and this month sees the return of the Macao Food Festival. The festival features food from around the world and combines delicious Asian, European and Macanese delicacies with exciting entertainment and fun for everyone. Wynn Palace: Opened on the 22nd August 2016 this hotel features a 7-acre performance lake; 200,000 square feet of retail space; and a cable car transport system to carry customers to the 1,706-room hotel.

1. The Parisian Macao: Opened on the 14th September 2016, together with authentically recreated Parisian boutiques and cafés, this property features a half-size replica of the Eiffel Tower with two observation decks.

A total of four new luxury hotels are due to open their doors over the forthcoming months

1. Legend Palace Hotel: Scheduled to open by the end of 2016 and styled around a medieval Central/Northern Asian theme, this five-star deluxe property will feature 229 rooms plus bars, restaurants and leisure facilities.

2. The 13: An ultra-luxury property, due to open early 2017, with 200 exclusive villas featuring private lift to the lobby, 24-hour butler service and complimentary transfers in the hotel’s fleet of Rolls-Royce Phantoms.

3. Roosevelt Macau Hotel: Expected to open mid-January 2017 and set in a 12-story tower, it will feature 373 rooms and suites, a private open-air swimming pool for pool parties and a Jin Yue Xuan Japanese restaurant.

4. MGM Cotai: The new eco-friendly complex is set to open during the second quarter of 2017 the MGM Cotai will feature 1,500 rooms and suites, luxury mansion accommodation, a selection of high end dining options and retail and entertainment facilities, including ‘Asia’s first dynamic theatre.’
