S.A.D. effects thousands of us annually, and one of the best treatments to combat this disorder is sunshine. So why not choose this specially created wellness holiday in St. Lucia to rid you on those winter blues.

Anse Chastanet & Jade Mountain

Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain, St Lucia, are pleased offer winter guests their three, five and seven day ‘Lose the Blues’ programmes, specifically designed for those suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

One in three people in the UK suffer from SAD in winter with a whopping 57%† of the population admitting to being afflicted by bouts of the winter blues. Symptoms include low energy, trouble concentrating, fatigue, increased appetite, low self-esteem, weight gain and anxiety. Vitamin D inducing natural light is the primary cure for this, but with less than 10% of Brits working outdoors, the hours of winter darkness often take their toll. Diet, exercise and relaxation closely follow as ‘go to’ cures but only a lucky few have time to incorporate this into their daily routine.

Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain’s new ‘Lose the Blues’ package combines these suggested remedies in breath-taking surroundings, besides the famed Pitons and under the bright Caribbean sunshine.

A series of Ayurvedic and classic spa treatments will be offered once daily, including a tension relieving ‘four hands’ massage, stress relieving reflexology and circulation stimulating body brushing. Sunrise and sunset yoga will help calm the mind and participation in activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding, windsurfing, tennis and hiking, is set to get those endorphins flowing.

Jade Mountain is renowned for its home-grown organic food and the menus are packed with foods used to tackle the winter blues. Anti-inflammatory and Serotonin inducing foods including locally caught fresh fish, home-grown bananas, Turmeric and home-made organic dark chocolate will all be on the menu.

To top off the indulgence guests can take part in a ‘Chocolate Sensory Tasting’, tasting chocolates made from cocoa beans grown on the resort’s Emerald Estate and made in Jade Mountain’s Chocolate Laboratory; Jade Mountain is St. Lucia’s only ‘bean to bar’ organic chocolate maker. Guests will try everything from the cocoa bean, which is the very first step in chocolate production, to the strongest type of Serotonin boosting cocoa mass and every irresistible, silky-smooth bite in between. As a culmination of the sensory tasting session guests will sample the resorts’ homemade truffles and the Emerald Estate Organic Chocolate bar.
