Today were celebrating the power of taking a minute for yourself in the day to focus, be quiet and mindful to help you appreciate the goodness in your day. Taking just ten minutes a day to do this has been proven to increase productivity by at least 30%.

Here are tips from Wellness expert Pat Divilly

There have been many quotes written about the value of time, how there aren’t enough hours in the day and how time is a precious commodity which cannot be recovered. But how do we actually make the most of the 186,000 seconds we are gifted each day and take back control of our own productivity?

Following a research survey* that found that 9 in 10 people say their mood improves when their productivity levels increase, specially tailored performance vitamin brand Berocca set about working with health and wellness expert Pat Divilly to help people find ways to achieve their full potential both mentally and physically by maximising their time through some simple tips and exercises.

Entrepreneur Pat, whose remarkable story saw him leap from having to borrow bus fare from his father to return home to Galway and then beginning his business with fitness classes on Barna beach to his current occupation which sees him give motivational speeches all over the world, believes that these five simple tips can go a long way to making every second count.

Make Every Second Count with Pat Divilly and Berocca

1. Make Space

Take time away from the noise. We are so immersed in social media, connectivity and general noise that we rarely get opportunity to think about what really matters to us. The best way of making every second count is to know what you want from life so that you can work towards it. A simple ten minutes a day sitting in silence, especially in the morning allows you to become more grounded and better able to handle stress.

2. Three Simple Actions

Once you've gotten some clarity on what you want and what you are working towards, get into the habit of writing down 3 things each evening that you will do the next day to move forward. This way your subconscious gets to work whilst you sleep and you can jump out of bed ready to make the most of your time.

3. Move!

It doesn't have to be the gym. Find something you enjoy so you can stick with it, make sure it’s fun for you. A social element is always a bonus and exercising with friends means you can motivate each other to make the experience enjoyable. A short walk in the morning before checking your phone or social media is a great way of taking control of your day, and getting the blood pumping, enabling to make the most of your time!

4. Be Present

Make the person you are with feel like the most important person in the world, whoever they are. Put down the phone and be present. Living busy lives means we sometimes don't get to see our friends and families as much as we'd like, so when we do we should make the most of that time and be truly present.

5. Gratitude

Practice gratitude by thinking of a minimum of 3 things every day that you are grateful for. It can be anything, big or small. Rather than always seeking more and comparing ourselves to others, think consciously of all that you are grateful for and how much you enjoy about your life already, and as the days go on and you find yourself making every second count, you’ll find this list grows longer and longer.

DID YOU KNOW?:

Berocca’s research has found that just over a third (36%) of workers say that low motivation negatively impacts their productivity. Armed with these tips, you can stay motivated to perform at your best all day, every day.

Commenting on the campaign, Pat Divilly said, “It’s so easy to go through our lives without taking time to look at what really matters and what will make us truly happy. We’re all used to juggling busy schedules and making plans for work and home life. By taking a few minutes a day to think about what really matters, you can see your productivity and happiness skyrocket. There’s no doubt the country is on the rise again and we’re all racing around to make the most of every day, but often doing this without properly thinking about our efficiency.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some extraordinary people who are masters of managing their time and their goals, and I’m delighted to be involved in this campaign where I have a chance to share some of these lessons with people.”

Berocca is currently running a campaign via Facebook which allows users to take the Berocca Make Every Second Count Challenge to be in with a chance of winning a smart watch. www.facebook.com/berocca
